Chief Deputy District Attorney Derman supervises the attorneys and support staff for the Environmental Protection Unit, Consumer Fraud, Insurance Fraud, Identity Theft, and the regional Delta Regional Auto Theft Task Force (Delta RATT). The Grant Operations Division also tackles cases involving animal cruelty, agricultural crimes, code enforcement, and gambling, and proactively seeks to promote education and safety through the Fireworks Task Force.
Mr. Derman joined the District Attorney’s Office in January 1999. He was appointed to his current position in March 2019. Previously, he served as the supervising Deputy District Attorney for the office’s Family Crimes Unit, addressing crimes of domestic violence, stalking, and elder abuse, and more recently, was the supervising Deputy District Attorney over the Specialized Prosecution Division. He is a graduate of UC Davis and received his law degree from the University of Oregon.
