The Employment Services program is a community skills building group for BHS members who are 18 years of age and older and Medi-Cal eligible. They must also be open to employment and stable enough to pursue it. The two-part program takes place over an 18-week period that entails employment preparation skills training and wellness and recovery education.
The employment preparation skills group meets two hours per week and provides participants with information on how to find and keep a job. Information includes career exploration, job searching, completing job applications, resume writing, and mock interviewing. The wellness and recovery education group meets for two hours per week and teaches participants how to develop safe-coping skills, manage stress, communication skills, self-esteem building , relaxation training, and healthy lifestyle habits. Wellness and Recovery Action Plans (WRAP) are created during the program and each participant’s plan is unique to their recovery goals.
Program goals are to prepare participants for the workforce, to assist them in finding and retaining employment, and to increase the earnings of individuals receiving Social Security Income benefits.
