About The Plan
In 2021, Public Works initiated preparation of the LRSP, which establishes best practices for the County to proactively assess and address safety concerns throughout the County’s roadway network. Development of the LRSP builds on past efforts to enhance roadway safety, including the 2020 San Joaquin County Systematic Safety Analysis Report.
The LRSP supports Public Works’ goal to provide a roadway network that provides safe travel throughout the County for all road users. This goal aligns with the mission and vision of the State of California’s Strategic Highway Safety Plan to eliminate fatal and severe injury collisions on roadways. Key components of the LRSP consist of a thorough assessment of traffic collisions on unincorporated County roadways, identification of priority locations for improvements, and development of a range of implementable strategies to address collision and violation trends and increase safety.
