The Board of Supervisors formally approved an employment contract with the Service Employees International Union, Local 1021 (SEIU) in a Special Meeting on July 15, 2026. The agreement covers the following bargaining units: Office and Office-Technical; Trades, Labor and Institutional; Para-Professional and Technical; Professional; Safety, Investigative and Custodial; and Supervisors.

Today, the San Joaquin County Registrar of Voters (ROV) office officially certified the June 2, 2026, Statewide Primary Election results, 7 days before the State mandated deadline. The final turnout for this election totaled 139,127 ballots cast, representing 33.9 percent of the 410,058 registered voters in San Joaquin County.

s recovery efforts continue following the Promontory/Medline Fire, community members are urged to take precautions when cleaning ash and fire debris. The fire created a debris field covering approximately six (6) square miles. Ash from burned structures may contain hazardous materials, including chemicals, metals, and fine particulate matter that can irritate the skin, eyes, and lungs.

San Joaquin County officials are urging residents to take precautions as the fire at the Medline Industries facility continues to burn, generating significant amounts of black smoke that may affect nearby communities.
