Medications
Improper disposal of medication and other pharmaceutical waste can have a significantly adverse effect on our drinking water. The San Joaquin County Medication Disposal Program offers authorized locations where you can safely dispose of your unwanted
medications.
Help protect our water supply by properly disposing of unwanted or expired medications. There is NO COST for San Joaquin County residents to drop off these materials at the Household Hazardous Waste Facility (HHW Facility)
or numerous kiosks located throughout the county for proper disposal. PLEASE DO NOT PLACE THESE ITEMS IN THE GARBAGE OR FLUSH DOWN TOILETS OR DRAINS!
The County HHW Facility cannot accept controlled substances (narcotics), radiopharmaceuticals,
or chemotherapy medicines.
The medication kiosks do not accept needles, preloaded syringes, infusion sets, lancets, vitamins, dietary supplements, mercury thermostats, radiopharmaceuticals, chemotherapy medicines, cytotoxic medicines, compressed
gas cylinders, or aerosol containers.
