April 18, 2025

Stockton, CA – As part of the 2026 Federal budget process, San Joaquin County recently submitted nearly $27 million in funding requests to support ten local projects to enhance programs, services, and infrastructure throughout the County. San Joaquin County submitted the following requests:

  • $3.8 million for the BeWell Campus Outdoor Program to enhance the behavioral health and substance use treatment facility. The funding will aid site planning, preparation and landscaping for therapeutic walking paths, trees, a community garden, seating and water features.
  • $2 million for the Corral Hollow Road Bridge replacement in the southwestern portion of San Joaquin County. Funding will replace the Corral Hollow Road Bridge and perform sediment removal activities.
  • $2.7 million for six fixed generators to improve water and storm drainage as well as system reliability and resiliency Countywide.
  • $4.2 million for new construction of a San Joaquin County Emergency Medical Service Agency administration, pre-hospital training, and warehouse facility. Funding for the facility will ensure locally trained paramedics and EMT personnel resources are available to the County's growing operational area.
  • $1.1 million for the High-Tech Detectives Unit expansion project within the County Sheriff's Office. Expansion of the High-Tech Detectives Unit will leverage cutting-edge technology to identify, investigate, and dismantle complex criminal activities, cybercrimes, human trafficking, financial fraud, homicides, and other crimes, where traditional methods are not effective or capable.
  • $2.4 million for acquisition of land to design and construct a storm drain retention pond and related facilities to convey, capture, and store stormwater runoff in County Service Area 14, also known as the Victor Storm Drain Retention Pond just east of Lodi.
  • $2 million to replace aging water infrastructure within the Lincoln Village Water Main Replacement Project. Funding will create new water mains and reduce maintenance costs.
  • $2.5 million for replacement of an aging and costly wastewater treatment plant within County Service area 44 in Stockton.
  • $320,000 for a mobile outreach veterans engagement vehicle to support the estimated 29,000 veterans who reside within San Joaquin County.
  • $5 million for the School Activation for Emergencies (SAFE) program. Funding will reduce response time to critical incidents on school grounds, enabling response to active threats in seconds rather than minutes.

“Support from our Federal government for these critical projects will continue to enhance the safety, health, infrastructure, and natural beauty within our County,” said Paul Canepa, Chair of the San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors. “The Board is appreciative of our Federal delegation for continuing to support and advocate for our County's needs.”

The Congress is expected to submit their selected projects to the House and Senate Appropriations Committees this spring for consideration as part of the Fiscal Year 2026 Federal budget process.
