(Stockton, CA) - The San Joaquin County Department of Public Works is urging residents to join the 2026 Coastal Cleanup Day volunteer event on Saturday, September 19 from 9 a.m. to noon in several locations throughout the County.

• American Legion Park (Cross streets: Baker Place and Bedford Road, Stockton)
• Buckley Cove (4040 March Lane, Stockton)
• Calaveras River (UOP Parking Lot 8, near Brookside Road and Pacific Avenue, Stockton)
• Mosher Slough-Sandman Park (Waudman Avenue and Don Avenue, Stockton)
• Lodi Lake (1101 W. Turner Road, Lodi - across from Snowhite Drive-In)
• Edgar Thoming Park (1001 Cambridge Place, Tracy)
• McHenry Recreation Area (24300 E. River Road, Escalon)

WHY:

Cleaning trash and debris from our waterways helps protect the health of our rivers, streams, and Delta while creating cleaner, safer spaces for residents and wildlife. As California’s largest annual volunteer event, Coastal Cleanup Day gives residents an opportunity to make a direct, positive impact by removing li tter before it can harm our environment, our waterways, and our communities.

During the 2025 San Joaquin County Coastal Cleanup Event, more than 350 volunteers collected nearly 3 tons of trash and recycled products from local inland waterways.

DETAILS:

Volunteer registration is strongly recommended, which can be found at this LINK on SJWater.org.

All participants should arrive at their site by 9 am and be ready to work. A site captain will be at each site to sign in volunteers and distribute supplies. Captains will provide latex gloves, trash and recycling bags, data cards, pencils, a safety briefing, and directions on where to clean up at each site.

Volunteers are required to wear closed-toe shoes and encouraged to bring the following:

• Work gloves
• Sunscreen
• Filled water bottle and snack
• Reusable bucket if you have one
• Work clothes
