District Attorney Ron Freitas is pleased to announce that Shakir Khan, who faced 77 criminal counts, including election fraud and money laundering, pleaded no contest to all charges today. The dedicated efforts of law enforcement and the judicial system have resulted in a decisive outcome for justice. District Attorney Ron Freitas emphasized the gravity of this case, stating, "Let today's guilty plea send a message loud and clear, especially as we enter 2024, ANY attempt to alter or undermine our electoral process and our democratic institutions in San Joaquin County will be dealt with immediately and with the fullest extent of the law."
