Today, San Joaquin County District Attorney Ron Freitas announced the San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors approved and proclaimed April 23-29, 2023 as National Crime Victims’ Rights Week (NCVRW) in San Joaquin County, mirroring the national campaign to confront and remove barriers to achieve justice for all victims of crime.
“Every year in April, communities throughout the country conduct commemorative local events to uplift victims, survivors, and their families,” said District Attorney Ron Freitas. “It is imperative we demonstrate our dedicated effort in advocating for victims locally. I wholeheartedly thank the Board of Supervisors for their support in proclaiming April 23-29, 2023 as National Crime Victims’ Rights Week.”
The Office for Victims of Crime has selected “Surviving Voices: Elevate. Engage. Effect Change.” as the theme for National Crime Victims’ Rights Week 2023. This year’s theme emphasizes the importance to elevate the voices of survivors and create an environment where survivors are heard, believed, and supported to create change.
In addition, the San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office will be hosting week-long events in commemoration of NCVRW:
