Registrar of Voters Announces Election Night Reporting Schedule for November 3 General Election
October 23, 2026

Stockton, CA – The San Joaquin County Registrar of Voters (ROV) has announced its comprehensive plan for reporting results for the November 3, 2026, General Election, reinforcing its commitment to transparency, accuracy, and timely public updates.

Polls will close at 8:00 p.m. on Election Day. Shortly after that, the ROV will release its first results. This initial report will include all Vote-by-Mail ballots received through Saturday, October 31, 2026, along with all ballots cast during the early voting period.

Beginning with the first results after the polls close, election results will be updated every two hours throughout the evening until all ballots cast at in-person polling locations are fully reported. These updates will be made publicly available to ensure real-time access for voters, media, and stakeholders.

Following Election Night, the ROV will continue regular updates during the official canvass period. The first report on remaining unprocessed ballots will be issued on Thursday, November 5 by 5:00 p.m., followed by an update on Friday, November 6 no later than 7:00 p.m. Thereafter, updates will be posted every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday no later than 7:00 p.m. until all ballots have been verified and counted. The ROV will certify the election results after 5:00 p.m. on November 25, 2026, the soonest date possible as required by current State legislation.

“We are committed to providing timely and accurate counts to the public throughout Election Night and in the days following,” commented San Joaquin County Registrar of Voters Olivia Hale. “We have implemented a number of steps to speed up the count, but accuracy remains our top priority as we report results.”

Hale emphasized that post-election updates will include all ballots requiring additional processing, such as Vote-by-Mail ballots received after Election Day, provisional ballots, and ballots that need additional signature verification.

“Every valid ballot will be counted, and every vote matters,” Hale added. “Our reporting schedule allows the public to track our process and provides confidence that every ballot is handled carefully, and every result is reported accurately.”
