STOCKTON, CA – Today, members of the San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors, the San Joaquin County Department of General Services, the County Administrator’s Office, and the County District Attorney attended a demolition ceremony of the former In-Shape building to begin construction of improvements to the new San Joaquin County District Attorney Offices.
The property and adjacent parking lot, located at 6 South El Dorado Street in downtown Stockton, includes nearly 87,200 square feet of usable space and sits on about 1.5 acres. The improvements will include, but are not limited to, parking garage improvements, upgrades to existing lighting options, information technology infrastructure improvements to align with County standards, construction of workspaces specific to District Attorney operations, and upgrades to modernize the existing building management systems (boilers, HVAC, lighting, electrical, plumbing, etc.).
“The upgrade to the facility will provide a safe and modern workplace for the hardworking men and women of the DA’s office and will better serve the residents of San Joaquin County,” said Robert Rickman, Chair of the San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors.
On November 16, 2021, the San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors approved the purchase of the former In-Shape Health Clubs Tower for $11 million. The cost to make improvements to the building is approximately $25 million. Once completed, the building will house nearly 320 employees from the District Attorney’s Office. It will take 18-24 months for the District Attorney’s Office to move from the old courthouse located on 222 Weber Avenue to the new facility.
