San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors Proclaim "Religious Freedom Day" in San Joaquin County
January 15, 2025

STOCKTON – At the request of Supervisor Rickman, the San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors proclaimed "Religious Freedom Day" in San Joaquin County, at their meeting Tuesday, January 14, 2025.

During the Pandemic, Supervisor Rickman often spoke out against the state’s guidelines placing restrictions on places of worship, as they appeared inconsistent with the free exercise clause of the First Amendment.

“Every year I bring this forward to the Board, and one of the reasons is just to remind everybody there are rights that you have that doesn’t come from the government…we are blessed to live in a country where it’s enshrined that you have this freedom…we still have to remain diligent, and to make sure we keep an eye on these rights to make sure that the governments don’t infringe on these rights…,” said Supervisor Robert Rickman.

The recognition was accepted on behalf of the community, by Pastor Dr. Kevin James of New Creation Bible Fellowship in Tracy.
