Stockton, CA – Supervisor Steve Ding, Fourth District, issued the following statement on the recent Board action to award a contract to USA Waste of California for trash collection in unincorporated County areas known as Refuse Service Area C, which includes the Morada and Linden areas:
“When this issue came to the Board in April, I fought for a competitive process to allow the free market to determine the best possible rate and services for County customers,” commented Supervisor Ding. “With this contract award, we see that an open and transparent process produces better results for our rate payers. I am proud to be able to bring this improved service and lower rate to consumers, who are being squeezed by inflation. The new contract will include up to 45% savings for residents with the largest refuse carts and will go into effect on January 1, 2026, when the current contract is complete. It confirms my view that the same process and template should be used going forward in all county refuse areas. I look forward to expanding this renewed competitive process to all County refuse areas in the future.”
