Stockton, CA – Board Chairman Miguel Villapudua issued the following statement after the special Board meeting this week to address the upcoming vacancy in the position of Health Care Services Director; the current director has resigned, giving notice of his last day as November 15, 2024:

“The Board of Supervisors is proud to appoint Genevieve Valentine as the Interim Health Care Services Director for San Joaquin County. In her role as the Director of Behavioral Health Services, Ms. Valentine has shown a commitment to inclusive, community-based services for our residents, while balancing state and federal funding requirements. We appreciate her strong relationship with our partner agencies and with our Board, which will ensure a smooth transition and continuity of services to residents.

Ms. Valentine will step into the role vacated by Greg Diedrich, who submitted his resignation on October 23, 2024. Her appointment begins on November 15th. Mr. Diedrich has served the County and the Board as Health Care Services Director for the past 10 years, and we thank him for his service and wish him the best in his future endeavors.”
