Board Approves Supervisor Rickman’s Proposal to Provide the Jacobson Elementary School Parent Association Student Field Trip Program $5,000 in District Five Funds
May 22, 2024

STOCKTON – At its Board meeting on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, the San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors approved Supervisor Rickman’s proposal to provide $5,000 in funding for the Jacobson Elementary School Parent Association (JSPA) Student Field Trip Program.

The Supervisorial District Funds were re-established by the Board of Supervisors in the 2023-2024 Adopted Budget, to afford each supervisor the opportunity to address district-specific unmet needs. Supervisorial district-funded projects are subject to existing County policy and business practice.

The JSPA is a non-profit organization dedicated to the improvement of their school and enrichment of their students and staff. One of their goals is to increase the experiences of students and connect them with the community by providing more field trips and activities. Jacobson has been increasing students’ inquiry-based learning and STEM by not only providing more hands-on learning, but by researching field trips that supplement this learning. The JSPA has allocated a program in their organization called “Student Field Trip Program” that is specifically designed to raise awareness and funding for field trips. The funds from the County Board of Supervisors will be used for STEM-Based and AG Science field trips.

“Learning both in and out of the classroom provide important educational opportunities, so I am proud to secure funding for these educational purposes,” said Robert Rickman, Fifth District Supervisor.
