County Offers New Modernized Permitting Services for Local Residents and Businesses

New County service that allows citizens and businesses to process permits online starting May 6, 2024. The new permitting process will apply to the County's Community Development Department, Public Works, Environmental Health, and the Treasurer-Tax Collector.

NEW PERMITTING SYSTEM

The County will launch Accela, a new web-based permitting application. Customers can apply for permits, make payments, and monitor the status of their project 24 hours a day, seven days a week. On Thursday May 2, 2024, at 12:00 pm Community Development Department will be migrating from our current software to the new software and will not be accepting permit applications until Monday, May 6, 2024 at 8:00 am. For Building Inspections, emergency permit situations, or any other urgent matter during this time, call (209) 468-3121 or email building@sjgov.org NOTE: Building Inspections will not be conducted or scheduled for Monday May 6th. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Building permits and building permit applications currently in our Gopost portal will be linked to our new Accela permitting platform via a PIN (personal identification number). On Monday, May 6th please request your PIN by email to building@sjgov.org or by calling (209) 468-3121. Also, on Monday May 6th a link to our new permitting software will be provided on the Community Development webpage and our Gopost log in page. Please create an account in our new Accela platform and once you are registered, create an application and choose PIN record. Use your PIN to link your existing project records.

Inspection requests received before 3:00 p.m. will be made on the next business day; requests received after 3:00 p.m. will be done the day following. Please call in all cancellations by 9:00 a.m. When calling for an inspection, you must have the following information available:

  • Name
  • Jobsite address
  • Nearest cross street
  • Telephone number
  • Type of inspection
