Participants will gain knowledge of the San Joaquin County's EMS System Structure, the Accreditation and Internship process, receive an overview of the Expanded Scope Medications, understand key EMS medical control policies, and be provided an opportunity to Q&A with the EMS Agency. This class is offered at no cost to participants. The class is expected to be 6 hours with the written San Joaquin County EMS Agency Policies exam and ALS skills testing to follow. The exam is closed book and you must have a score of 80% or higher to pass and be issued a course completion certificate (CE certificate). Up to six (6) hours of instructor-based EMS CE will be offered. CA EMS CE provided by San Joaquin County EMS Agency CEP# 39-0001.
Course prerequisites: Minimally Interrupted Cardiac Resuscitation (MICR) video, X- CollarTM, and LUCAS 3 Chest Compression Device certificates.

Effective January 1, 2010, any paramedic applying for Initial San Joaquin County Paramedic Accreditation must complete a Paramedic Accreditation Orientation class.
Effective January 1, 2011, anyone assigned to complete a paramedic field internship in San Joaquin County must
complete a Paramedic Accreditation Orientation class.
Effective January 1, 2010, all accredited paramedics in San Joaquin County are required to complete one PSR within six (6) months prior to expiration of their current accreditation.
This class is offered at no cost to participants. The class is expected to be 4-6 hours with the written San Joaquin County EMS Agency Policies exam and ALS skills testing to follow. The exam is closed book and you must have a score of 80% or higher to pass and be issued a course completion certificate (CE certificate). Personnel should register for the class at least (30) days prior to the date of their selected class. These classes are also open to EMTs; however, class sizes are limited so paramedics will be given priority. Up to six (6) hours of instructor-based EMS CE will be offered. CA EMS CE provided by San Joaquin County EMS Agency CEP# 39-0001.
PAO and PSR classes are scheduled on the same day and the classes overlap.

Click here to complete the online training for the Lucas 3 device. Go through the device orientation and highlighted topics before taking the theoretical test. After you successfully pass the test, print the certificate and provide it to the San Joaquin County EMS Agency to satisfy the prerequisite to the Paramedic Accreditation Orientation (PAO).
