May 20, 2024 - Trauma System of Care Update

San Joaquin County Trauma System of Care is admired by other trauma centers and Local EMS Agencies in Northern California for coordinated efforts between San Joaquin County EMS Agency’s (SJCEMSA) transport providers and designated Level II Trauma Center, San Joaquin General Hospital (SJGH).

SJGH’s Trauma Services shared a presentation during a recent Northern California Regional Trauma Care Committee (RTCC) meeting regarding, patient survivability of traumatic injuries in relation to severity and elapsed time to arrival at SJGH’s Operating Room or “Direct to OR” time. The presentation highlighted excellent trauma care provided to residents and visitors travelling through SJC. RTCC represents over twenty-two (22) designated trauma centers and multiple Local EMS Agencies in Northern California. RTCC members admired interaction from SJGH and SJCEMSA transport providers regarding the Direct to OR process, which critical trauma patients are streamlined through an emergency department while on an EMS gurney to the operating room increasing patient survivability. Trauma Systems of Care includes many different system partners from emergency medical dispatchers, prehospital personnel, hospital staff, trauma services staff, and physicians. People’s lives can be saved when a Trauma System of Care works in a coordinated patient focused approach and SJC is leading the way with optimal care.

Thank you for continuing to improve, communicate, and strive for better care of the residents and visitors of SJC. The efforts are appreciated and do not go unnoticed.
