Public Records Requests-Agricultural Commissioner
Use this page to request public records from our office, review processing timelines, understand fees, and confidentiality limitations.
Public Records Requests (California Public Records Act)
The San Joaquin County Agricultural Commissioner / Sealer of Weights & Measures provides access to public records in accordance with the California Public Records Act (CPRA), which recognizes that access to information about the conduct of the people’s business is a fundamental right. We will provide the parts of records that can be released and remove (redact) any information that must be withheld by law.
How To Request Records
Requests may be submitted using our Public Records Request process and forms available on our department website. Requests are processed in the order received, during office hours Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. We will let you know within 10 days whether records are available (with limited extensions allowed by law).
Fees and Confidential Information
Copying and processing fees may apply. Hard copies are $0.10 per page for the first 21 pages, and $0.07 per page thereafter. Staff time for processing is billed at $66.02 per hour. Our office can only provide records maintained by this department; records held by other County agencies must be requested from those agencies directly. Electronic records usually only involve copying costs. If we need to compile or extract data to fulfill your request, processing time may be billed at $66.02 per hour.
Phone numbers and email addresses are treated as confidential and are not included in the data file, consistent with CPRA requirements to withhold exempt information while still releasing any non-exempt portions.
