Pest Management Program

County Agricultural Commissioners are charged with the responsibility of managing nuisance pests of agriculture and human health. Many of these pests are introduced species that have become established despite the best efforts of agricultural commissioners and the California Department of Food and Agriculture to eradicate them.

BAIT

Our Department provides assistance to agriculture in controlling vertebrate pests through the sale of rodent baits (Diphacinone) and sale of gas cartridges manufactured by USDA. In order to purchase Diphacinone bait, a current Private Applicator Certificate is required. A Pesticide Use Report must be submitted to the Agricultural Commissioner's Office by the 10th of the month, following application of the material as required by Title 3 CA Code of Regulations, Section 6626. Bait and cartridges are subject to availability.
